Town of Woodstock Registry of Artists

Information Sheet

 

Thank you for your interest in the Town of Woodstock’s Registry of Artists.  Please review the instructions below prior to filling out the attached form.   While it is our intent to keep this process as simple as possible, please feel free to provide us with any information you feel appropriate.  Should you have any questions, you can e-mail the Town Historian at woodstockhistory@hvc.rr.com.

 

Who can be nominated?

 

Any artist who has lived in Woodstock, or the surrounding area, can be nominated.  It is not necessary that the artist’s work has been exhibited, performed, or displayed in Woodstock, only that the artist has had a creative association with the Town of Woodstock during their lifetime.  In addition, inclusion in the register is not meant to be exclusionary.  Individuals, regardless of their “status” in a respective field, will be included as long as an association with Woodstock is established.  Individuals from any artistic field can be nominated.  Nominations can be self-made, or made by any interested individual.

 

Filling out the form:

 

When filling out the form, please remember that history requires us to be as accurate as possible.  However, we also understand that, in some instances, time has passed and an accurate recollection might not be possible.  If you are unsure about certain information such as dates, please simply indicate that the information you are providing is approximate or is the best you can recall.

 

Those making the nomination must include their contact information.  This information will be used only if there is a need for follow-up questions by the Town Historian.

Nominations can also be left for the Town Historian at the Town Clerk’s office.

Nominations will be reviewed upon receipt.  Should there be any questions about the information provided, the person who completed the nomination will be contacted for clarification.  Once a nomination is considered complete, it will be added to the Register and the individual who made the nomination will be notified.

 

The Register will be kept at the Woodstock Town Clerk’s Office and the Woodstock Historical Society.  Additional copies may be provided to other cultural institutions within Woodstock upon request.
